
The All-New 2025 Ford Mustang GTD Steals the Throne from the 2017 Dodge Viper ACR
The 2025 Mustang GTD has just set an impressive new lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. With racer Dirk Müller at the wheel, the Mustang GTD completed the 12.9-mile track in an astonishing 6 minutes and 57.685 seconds, making it the fastest American production car at the famous “Green Hell”.

Joining an elite group of just six stock production cars to ever lap the Nürburgring in under seven minutes, the 2025 Mustang GTD’s supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine delivers a powerful 815 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, hitting an impressive top speed of 202 miles per hour. Thanks to all that power, the GTD rockets from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, making it a true powerhouse on the road.

The Ford Mustang GTD is basically a supercharged beast with over 800 horsepower, sleek carbon fiber parts, a high-tech dual-clutch transmission, and perfect weight balance, making it way more advanced than any previous generation Mustang.

Ford’s CEO Jim Farley expressed excitement, saying:
“We’re thrilled to be the first American automaker with a car that can lap the Nürburgring in under seven minutes, but we know there’s more speed to find with Mustang GTD. We’ll be back.”
The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD’s performance is enhanced by its advanced aerodynamics, including active flaps and an optional rear wing with a drag reduction system, along with an Adaptive Variable Suspension system. Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes provide excellent stopping power.

Ford plans to produce the GTD in limited numbers for the 2025 and 2026 model years, starting at around $325,000. The company also aims to improve the lap time in future attempts.

Before the Mustang GTD, the Dodge Viper ACR held the record for the fastest American production car at the Nürburgring, clocking in at an impressive 7:01.3 in 2017.
